INGREDIENTS:
FOR THE BEEF SHAWARMA:
â 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
â 2 tbsp shawarma spice mix
â 3 tbsp olive oil
â 3 cloves garlic, minced
â Juice of 1 lemon
â Salt and pepper to taste
FOR THE SAUCE:
â 2 cups plain yogurt
â 2 tbsp tahini
â 2 cloves garlic, minced
â Salt to taste
â 1 tbsp lemon juice
FOR ASSEMBLY:
â 4 large pieces of pita bread or flatbread
â ¼ cup pine nuts or slivered almonds, toasted
â ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
â 1 tsp paprika (for garnish)
â Extra lemon wedges for serving
INSTRUCTIONS:
In a bowl, combine the sliced beef, shawarma spice mix, olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, or preferably overnight in the refrigerator.
In a skillet over medium-high heat, add the marinated beef and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Set aside.
In a bowl, mix together the yogurt, tahini, minced garlic, salt, and lemon juice until smooth. Adjust seasoning as needed.
